- Mondays at the Kimbrell Campus, 7220 Wilkinson Blvd, Belmont, NC.
- Tuesdays and Wednesdays at the Dallas Campus, 201 Highway U.S. 321 S, Dallas, NC.
- Thursdays at the Lincoln Campus, 511 S. Aspen St, Lincolnton, NC.
Check the page for current days before you go.
Statewide and federal help
- NC SBTDC, the Small Business and Technology Development Center network, lists its offices on its locations page; use it to find the office that serves Gaston County.
- SBA North Carolina District Office covers SBA-backed loan programs and lists participating lenders (sba.gov). Halespring Business Capital does not arrange SBA loans.
- NC Department of Administration runs the state's Small Business Enterprise certification for businesses that want to sell to state agencies; see our certification guide.
Registering and staying registered
- NC Secretary of State, Business Registration Division: forming an LLC or corporation and filing changes (sosnc.gov).
- NC Department of Revenue: registering for state tax accounts (ncdor.gov).
- City of Gastonia: the city website has pages for business licenses, permits and inspections, planning, and bids and requests for proposals (gastonianc.gov). It also links to the city's economic development site.
- Gaston County: county departments, including the tax office that handles the annual business personal property listing (gastongov.com).
Economic development and the chamber
Gaston County and the City of Gastonia promote business growth through economic development offices, and there is a regional chamber of commerce. Their exact names and addresses still need checking against their own websites before we list them.
Questions to bring to a counseling session
- Is the business set up in the right legal form, and are state and city registrations current?
- Do the books separate business and personal money, and are the last two years of returns filed?
- How many weeks of expenses could the business cover from cash on hand today?
- Is the funding need a timing gap, a one-off purchase or a sign of thin margins?
- Which records would a lender ask for, and which are missing?
Bringing those answers to a funding conversation afterward makes it shorter and more useful. Owners who already keep an asset list for the county's January listing are often further along than they think.
Grants
Halespring Business Capital has no grant program and does not apply for grants on anyone's behalf. Ask the Small Business Center or the SBTDC about any grant programs open to your business; grants are rarely a quick source of operating cash.
Why see an adviser before borrowing
An adviser can test the plan and the numbers before a lender does. In Gaston County, 51.4 percent of employer establishments had fewer than five employees in 2023 (U.S. Census Bureau, County Business Patterns 2023), and another 19,188 businesses had no employees at all in 2024 (U.S. Census Bureau, Nonemployer Statistics 2024). For owners running firms that small, a second pair of eyes on cash flow is worth a great deal and costs nothing at the Small Business Center.
When you are ready to compare funding, the six structures compared and the term loan page are good next steps, and the Gastonia, NC page has local Census figures.
A note on independence
Every organization on this page is independent of Halespring Business Capital. We have no partnership, referral arrangement or affiliation with any of them, and they do not endorse us. The rest of our Gaston County guides are under resources.
